Our Inspirations: A Pillar of Filmmaking

Every filmmaker has their inspirations, their favorite filmmaker themselves which they inspire their films from them, they tend to copy their directive style.

Today, I talk about my inspiration, Peter Weir, and how he utilizes his stories and how to convert them into horror thrillers. Peter Weir was a fabulous American film director who created wonders for the film world such as Gallipoli and the film which was my inspiration, Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975). When I had the idea of a picnic of Friends turned into horror, I needed some ideas on filmmaking and editing style. So I recalled the 1975 film, Picnic at Hanging Rock. I chose to see the cuts, the shots and the acting portrayal for that film, I took inspiration, made some changes as well. Obviously, we wrote the script ourselves, the storyboard but taking inspirations is healthy for your film. Those shaky shots for tension, the dull lighting, footsteps sounds, ominous music, all added up to make the film a horror/crime sequence.
